At the end of the day, we are all just looking for ways to have a happier life.  However, even though we may want to be happier, oftentimes a lot of our day-to-day behaviors prevent us from having pleasant and fulfilling lives.

So here are seven behaviors that can help you, or anyone else, have a happier life.  Do you do each of these things on a daily basis?

1. Make Fun a Priority to Have a Happier Life

So many of us get caught up in what we think we “have” to do.  We worry about getting to work on time, impressing the boss, getting the kids to soccer practice and keeping the house nice and clean.  However, all of these activities are work activities, not play.

Life is passing each of us by.  If life is feeling like a daily grind of things that you have to do, STOP! and have some fun.   Life just isn’t worth living when it’s all work and no play.

2. Let Go to Have a Happier Life

Many of us have a serious desire to control outcomes.  We want to get where we want to be on time and we want to guarantee that there won’t be any problems when we get there.  Unfortunately, this obsessive need to control actually creates more problems, because it leads to unnecessary anxiety and stress.

Trust that if you let go, it will all get done.  You don’t have to be in charge of everything to get what you want.  Have a little faith in the universe’s ability to pull it all together for you.

3. Go With the Flow to Have a Happier Life
Along with letting go of our need to control outcomes, going with the flow is critical for a happier life.  Be willing to let the universe guide you to where you want to be.  Sometimes, it may take you in a direction that you’d never yourself choose, but it ends up being the quickest, easiest and most enjoyable way to get where you want to be.

So the next time you are distracted, or pulled away from a task, allow yourself to go where the current is taking you.  You just might be headed exactly where you want to go.

4. Follow Your Dreams to Have a Happier Life
Happy people have passion in their lives.  Unfortunately, so many people dull the passion in their lives in exchange for duty and expectation.   So, if there is something that you enjoy doing-do it! Whether it’s painting, going to the beach, running a marathon or going after the career you really want, listen to the little voice in your head that urges you to follow your dreams.

5. Be a Little Weird to Have a Happier Life
Many of us are so busy trying to fit in that we compromise what it means to truly be “us.”  A happy person is someone who is comfortable in their own skin.  So don’t be afraid to be a little weird here and there.  You might get some sideways glances and a few chuckles initially, but in time those around you will come to accept and love you for who you really are.

6. Forgive to Have a Happier Life
This is a big one.  So many people are holding grudges and anger in their hearts because of the wrongdoings that have been done to them by others.  Please realize that holding on to anger only hurts yourself.  It poisons your soul, and damages the quality of your energy.  So forgive others for their wrongdoings, not because it was ok for them to hurt you, but because you don’t want to hurt any more than you have to.

7. Laugh and Smile to Have a Happier Life
Don’t forget to laugh and smile regularly! Life doesn’t have to be so serious, and when it isn’t we have a lot more fun.  Watch funny movies, go to a comedy show, or chat with your funny friend.  Never underestimate the power of a good laugh.

So if you’re looking for a few ways to have a happier life, try to incorporate a few of these tips into your day-to-day routine! Being happy is something that any of us can achieve, but only if we are willing to move in the direction of it.
